Ubuntu 10.04 的开发代号也出来了，叫做Lucid Lynx。什么意思呢——清醒的猞猁，不太好翻译啊，不知原意究竟是什么。Ubuntu的版本代号非常有意思，总是以动物命名，同样字母开头的一对单词 ——形容词+动物名，从ubuntu6.06开始，一直巧妙地沿着字母 顺序DEFGHIJ…命名。Ubuntu 9.10也将于今年10月份发布，开发代号为“Karmic Koala”，显然这是为了纪念这只在澳大利亚山林大火中得以幸存的“幸运的考拉”。
开始把所有的开发版本命名为容易记住的动物名称始于Ubuntu的早期，在被命名为Ubuntu之前，当Robert Collins在听到六个月的发行日程后，说” That is going to be pretty warty. Lets call it Warty Warthog “。就这样定下了命名规则。可以看到，从ubuntu 6.06开始，一直保持着字母序列号递增的命名方式。
